Caracola Creative Languages was conceived in 2015 to realize our vision of socially engaged language learning and teaching.  Currently, the organization is not active.

Alice Emery, Executive Director

Alice has worked as a teacher educator and professor of English, Composition and Spanish for many years.  She taught for over 10 years at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in Mexico City, before moving to New Haven in 2006.  Caracola Creative Languages was born out of her commitment to innovative and new ways of teaching languages, the creative arts, and the Mexican culture of which she is a part.  Last but not least, she wanted to develop an exciting heritage language program in which her bilingual daughters could participate!

She holds an A.B. from Princeton University in Comparative Literature, and an M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Columbia University's Teachers College.
